Questions, Answered
What’s a move going to run me?
It rides on how much you have and how the access looks, but local jobs start at $149/hr for two movers and a truck, and here is the part people like: stairs and long carries are baked into the flat number, so no per-flight add-ons. You get an itemized written price before we start. Out-of-town moves go by weight and miles.
Do you charge extra for stairs or a long walk to the truck?
No. This is San Francisco, walk-ups and half-block carries are just Tuesday, so we build them into your flat number up front. You will not get a per-flight or long-carry surcharge sprung on you at the end.
Are you actually licensed?
Yes. Bay Haul Moving holds California household-goods carrier authority and full insurance, and every job runs with our own crew start to finish, no broker in the middle. Ask us for the authority and coverage details and we will lay out valuation before you book.
How do SF parking and permits work on move day?
We take care of it. For tight blocks we pull a temporary no-parking permit from the SFMTA a few days ahead, and for towers we book the freight elevator and file the building COI, so nobody is circling for a spot when the truck shows up.
How far ahead should I book?
A week or two covers most local moves. Summer and the last few days of the month go quick, so give three to four weeks then. Same-week slots open up a lot, though, always worth a call.
Do you need a deposit?
A small refundable one holds your slot and comes off the final total. Cancel two days out and it is back in full. All of it is in writing the moment you book, nothing held over your head.
When and how do I pay?
After the job is done, not before. Cards, check, or cash, and you okay the final total on site before the crew rolls out.
Anything you won’t move?
Hazmat stays home, propane, paint, solvents, ammo, plus perishables, houseplants, and pets. Flag anything oversized or high-value when you book so we send the right crew and gear.
