Local Moving in San Francisco
Free, No-Obligation Estimate
Cross-town SF moves done right. Our own crew, a truck stocked with pads and dollies, and a flat price that already counts your walk-up.
Local Moving in San Francisco
Looking for a local mover who actually knows this city? Bay Haul is a licensed, insured San Francisco company, and the whole job stays with our own crew, no brokers and no last-minute app hires. You get one team on the hook and one flat, written price.
What makes it different
In San Francisco the thing that runs up a bill is rarely the boxes, it is the stairs, the walk-up, and the block with nowhere to park. So we count all of that into your flat number up front, and a third-floor Victorian stops being a nasty line item at the curb.
How to get ready
- Thin out and donate what you are not taking
- Tag each box with its room and star the fragile ones
- Sort the parking, permit, or elevator hold ahead
- Break down beds and empty drawers the night before
- Keep your own papers, keys, and valuables on you
What nudges your price
- How much is coming and the home size
- Stairs, walk-ups, and the carry to the truck
- Miles between the two places
- The day of the week and the season
- Packing and any specialty pieces

Questions, Answered
What’s a move going to run me?
It rides on how much you have and how the access looks, but local jobs start at $149/hr for two movers and a truck, and here is the part people like: stairs and long carries are baked into the flat number, so no per-flight add-ons. You get an itemized written price before we start. Out-of-town moves go by weight and miles.
Do you charge extra for stairs or a long walk to the truck?
No. This is San Francisco, walk-ups and half-block carries are just Tuesday, so we build them into your flat number up front. You will not get a per-flight or long-carry surcharge sprung on you at the end.
When does the meter start?
When we clock in at your door, and after the first hour it is billed by the minute, so ten minutes of work never costs you a rounded-up hour. We give you the crew rate and how travel time works before anyone lifts a box.
My place is a third-floor walk-up with no elevator, is that a problem?
Not at all, that is most of the city. We bring the crew and dollies for it, and since stairs already sit inside your flat price, a walk-up does not cost you a cent extra at the curb.
How do SF parking and permits work on move day?
We take care of it. For tight blocks we pull a temporary no-parking permit from the SFMTA a few days ahead, and for towers we book the freight elevator and file the building COI, so nobody is circling for a spot when the truck shows up.
Can I reschedule?
Sure. Give us 48 hours and the deposit is refunded in full. Every cancellation term is spelled out in your booking, so there is nothing to guess at.
